The Church of Reason  The Cathedral of correction

The Church of Reason is not a place.  That is it is not a building or a location.  Rather it is a state of mind.  A method, a system, a process.  If we want to get mystical, a certain plane.  It is a place we go to try and piece together the events of the world, the events of our lives.  To try and make sense of all our experience.  I say it is not a location in the usual sense, something we can point to, can give directions to.  Rather it is located in what we call our mind, or brain if you prefer.  Why use the word Church?  Because our belief in reason is akin to religious faith.  We have to believe in belief.  We have to have faith in faith.  When we strip back our reason and ask why we have come to any particular conclusion, what is the authority for that conclusion, we are left with a process.  We went through the process of reasoning in the light of the facts as we knew them and came to a conclusion.  We might be right we might be wrong, there might be facts we are unaware of.  But it's all we have.  It's all the reasoning process can give us. So we have to believe.  We have to have faith in the process.

Winter of Discontent

Now is the winter of our discontent... made inglorious by this Duke of York...  and on top of that we have a stinking election in December...   Win, lose or draw the last 3 years of the Brexit debacle has proven beyond all doubt to those that didn't know it already that we live in a faux democracy and that rank and privilege still rule the roost...  As an out and out leaver I'm no fan of our joke prime minister but if he gets the job done he will have served his purpose - then he can go.  All those who babble on about healing and bringing the nation back together are indulging in piffle.  The nation is rent asunder and has been for years even decades before the Brexit vote.  Before even our joining of the EU or its forerunners.  The 2016 vote merely lanced the rancid boil.  The self-deluding bourgeoisie and their mentors in the elites have brought their mock-horror at the peasants' revolt upon themselves.  The nation won't be the same again (hooray!) and it was about time the establishment complacency was given a good 'kicking'.  Whether in or out the Leavers fight for the soul of our nation will go on...  If we are defeated or betrayed as in the actual Peasants' Revolt or the Civil War or after the promise of a 'Land fit for heroes' in 1918' we will never surrender.  If it is our Little Big Horn and we win the battle but lose the war through Machiavellian establishment political manoeuvrings then they will have to kill every last one of us and they will have our blood on their hands for evermore...  History will not let them wash out this 'foul spot'.  In the words of Spartacus, 'Its better to die on your feet as a free man than on your knees as a slave.'

Boris Johnson gets a feasible deal with the EU, gets support in principal in parliament, the numbers appear to be there to get it through...  then he does a Theresa May and calls a general election!!  Just what we don't need... 2017 all over again.  That's my Christmas ruined!!!

Talking of compensation schemes we also have the Mau Mau veterans claiming money from our taxes too - the Mau Mau a terrorist group who went round killing thousands of people, mostly their fellow blacks.  Ooh they didn't like it when the colonial authorities took reprisals.  Well if you go to war you can only expect your chosen enemy to fight back with everything at their disposal.  Don't go all wussie when it comes on top for you...  Stand up and be a man!
I see that a new compensation scheme is in the offing - apparently £200 million pounds, yes that's right £200 million pounds, is to be paid to 15,000 people over the Windrush affair.  I don't remember 15,000 people being on the Windrush when it docked - do you?  Looks like a lot of Johnny-come-lately's to me indulging in a fraudulent scheme to steal yet more of our hard earned tax money- the government complicit in aiding this sham cult of victimhood...

Extinction Rebellion - hmmm...

Interesting about Extinction Rebellion - now we know how their members can stay camped out in London for however long they want - they don't have to go to work - they get paid £400 a week - very nice for some - some new age, middle class hippie dippies - If we looked at how much they acquire, how much product they buy, how much technology and gadgets they own (with all the attendant toxic chemicals), how much effluent and waste they produce and their airmiles and carbon footprint it would be very illuminating...  So, who is paying them, who is providing the funds...   Some foreign power...  The sort of power that is interfering with our elections...

Lewis Hamilton - goes environmental???

Well. That was certainly difficult!  Creating this 'new' blog.  I always wanted to call it 'Captain's Blog', after Star Trek (original series - the best - because it relied on ideas NOT sfx - not with its cardboard scenery!)  Still cool...

However I digress.  As usual...   I'm supposed to be serious in this publication.   SO - today 16 Oct 19 Lewis Hamilton urges everyone to go vegan - says he 'feels like giving up on everything' due to concerns about the environment.  WOW!  Like Formula 1 racing is SO environmentally friendly.  Must be one of the most wasteful, polluting, pointless pursuits in the word.  And NO, we could advance technology some other way.  So no point to F1.  I wonder what Extinction Rebellion say about it...
